Selgars Mill is not aiming to be a glossy, corporate style venue, but an enchanting place where you and your loved ones can feel free to design your celebration at a price that makes it affordable for all those interested in unique, ecologically attuned happenings. We work with you on the menus, the styling and the atmosphere and we welcome previsits to discuss your dreams and help bring them to fruition. 

During the central day of your event you can invite up to 100 guests, but because we are aiming to preserve the ancient beauty and sense of seclusion, you will need to organise transport to collect your guests from the station and drop them at the end of the private lane into the grounds. Parking is strictly limited, as is unnecessary waste, factory foods and disposables. 

Noise however, is not a problem for us- we love a good party and will actively encourage you to sing and dance the night away!

Accommodation: During the winter we can sleep 30 guests in a variety of rooms and lodges all warmed by our woodburning stoves and biomass boiler, and during the summer we can spill out into the glamorous Bell tents in the idyllic camping meadow and shepherds huts and so can accommodate a further 25 overnighters. Our central dining space and large open plan kitchen seat 30 for formal dining. We have a banquetting barn seating 100 which can be set stylishly with vintage crockery and wild flowers, a stage and PA, a splendid 12m x 6m Moroccan Marquee full of rugs, lanterns, cushions and a sound system. We can handle all your catering focussing on fresh, tantalising vegetarian and vegan feasts and we stock our bar with local and organic drinks. If you’d prefer to do-it-yourself, you can hire our facilities to run your own nourishment. 

We’ve recently been introduced to the idea of midweek ‘elopements’ which seem like a fantastic way to keep sneak away and get hitched in a relaxed and intimate style that’s all about the two of you, without the necessity to cater for the world and her civil partner. Midweek events are priced at around 35% cheaper and only necessitate a two day hire fee so that might be an ingenious way to have everything you want included without the weekend premium!
